Mechanical Plumbing Coordinator

B.L. Harbert International is looking for a Mechanical/Plumbing Coordinator to work in our Birmingham, Alabama office. This individual would report to the Mechanical Director. This position will have responsibilities in Birmingham, Alabama, as well as on our international project sites.

 

Working Conditions:

  • Travel: 10% of time will be spent traveling, both domestically and or overseas.

 

  • Physical Demands: Some light lifting may be required (50 lbs), walking, standing, sitting, keyboarding, writing and reading.

 

  • Environmental Conditions: some work performed in a controlled indoor environment as well as frequent job site visits – subject to hot, cold, humid, and wet conditions depending on location.

Requirements
Duties:  
  • Oversee the development of design on Design-Build projects.
 
  • Carry out Value-Engineering (VE) and Constructability Studies.
 
  • Carry out Life-Cycle Cost Study Analyses (LCAAs)
 
  • Carry out Construction Contract Administration (RFIs/Submittals/O&Ms/REAs, etc.)
 
  • Carry out Quantifications of Material and Equipment.
 
  • Issue Purchase Requests (PRs) and Purchase Orders (POs).
 
  • Coordinate vendor start-ups and commissioning.
 
  • Support On-site Project Coordinators and Site Personnel as needed.
Experience:  
  • 5-10+ years of experience in managing projects in excess of $5 million, for various types of construction industries, including but not limited to: Government and Military, Light industrial, Process Piping, Data Center and Healthcare.
 
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management or related Field (will consider experience in lieu of degree)
 
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Security Clearance
 
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US Passport
 
  • Ability to travel to international project locations
 
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products, especially Excel
 
  • Proficient with estimating/quantifying software such as: On-Center-Takeoff (OST), Fast Est (FastDUCT/ FastPIPE), Trimble MEP or similar programs
 
Preferences

Preferences:

  • Fire Sprinkler piping experience, in accordance with NFPA.
 
  • Plumbing experience, to include but not limited to: meters and gauges, valves, hangers & supports, vibration and seismic controls, identification, plumbing specialties, domestic water piping, booster pumps, sanitary waste and vent, sewerage/sump pumps, storm drainage, compressed-air, water treatment, water heaters, plumbing fixtures, etc.
 
  • Mechanical piping experience, to include but not limited to: meters and gages, expansion loops, valves, hangers and supports, heat tracing, vibration and seismic, identification, testing/adjusting/&balancing, insulation, instrumentation and controls, fuel-oil piping, hydronic piping, pumps, refrigeration, boilers, heat-exchangers, chillers, terminal cooling/heating equipment, etc.
 
  • HVAC experience, to include but not limited to: hangers and supports, vibration and seismic controls, identification, testing/adjusting/&balancing, insulation, instrumentation and controls, metal ducts, power ventilators, air terminal units, diffusers/registers/grilles, air filtration, breechings, chimneys, stacks, vents, air-handling units, terminal cooling/heating equipment, etc.
 
  • Commissioning and Balancing experience
 
  • Troubleshooting experience
 
  • Instrumentation and controls experience
 
  • BIM/3-D modeling experience
