BL Harbert International broke ground yesterday morning on the New Science and Technology Center at the University of North Alabama. The new facility will replace the 50-year-old Floyd Science Building, and will be home to the Biology Department, Chemistry and Industrial Hygiene Department, and Physics and Earth Science Department. Classroom and laboratory space will serve engineering students, and will be a resource to the greater scientific and research community in the region.
Dr. William Cale, UNA President, spoke of how this facility has been a dream to the faculty and students for over eight years. Other attendees included state officials, Florence City Council members and school leaders. Scheduled completion for the facility is December 2014.
BL Harbert’s President of the US Group, Gary Savage, states: “We are excited to be working on such a significant project in the Florence community, where the project’s impact to the UNA campus will serve as an example of the university’s commitment to future students and faculty.”
