Construction Milestone at Ole Miss Pavilion

On May 15, 2015, BL Harbert International and the University of Mississippi celebrated a construction milestone at the new Pavilion at Ole Miss. The Athletic Department, BL Harbert International and subcontractors came together for a topping out celebration to recognize worker safety and all of the hard work completed to date on the new arena.

“This event is to thank the many workers and the progress they have made on the Ole Miss Pavilion. These men and women work when it is 10 degrees or 100 degrees outside. They work hard every day and do an excellent job. Without them none of this would be possible,” stated Gary Savage, BL Harbert U.S. Group President.

Although, the Pavilion vertically topped out a few weeks ago and erection is half way complete of the roof trusses, the ceremony was planned in conjunction with graduation festivities. The beam erected for the ceremony was on display all week for thousands of students, faculty and alumni to sign and leave their mark.

“We could not be more pleased with BL Harbert and this jobsite and this operation,” stated Ross Bjork, University of Mississippi Athletics Director.

The new Pavilion is a 9,600-seat arena that will be completed by early 2016, just in time to host Conference games for the 2016 Ole Miss Basketball Teams. The state-of-the-art facility will include the basketball court, premier locker room suites for players and coaching staff, training facilities, a Courtside Club, All-American Suites, and the Pavilion Club.

BL Harbert International broke ground on the facility in July of 2014. Following this milestone, the construction team will concentrate on drying in the building and the interior build-out.

Serving as the general contractor, BL Harbert International is working in conjunction with the architectural and engineering firm AECOM of Kansas City, MO and program manager ICM of Oxford, MS.
