On Monday, May 9, team members from BL Harbert joined over 400 guests and presenters to celebrate the Grand Opening of the new United States Courthouse in Anniston, Alabama. The Honorable Corey L. Maze, U.S. District Judge of the Northern District of Alabama, led the ceremony which included musical performances from the Oxford High School Show Choir, a presentation of colors by the Anniston High School JROTC, and a Dedication Address by U.S. Senator Richard Shelby. The audience also listened to representatives from the U.S. General Services Administration and Page Southerland Page and our own Federal Division Manager Mike Waller. The ceremony concluded with a celebratory ribbon-cutting and was followed by a public tour of the new courthouse.
The new U.S. Courthouse in Anniston serves as home to the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Alabama and the Bankruptcy Court of Northern Alabama. It also provides workspace for the U.S. Marshals Service and the U.S. Attorney’s Office. The 63,000 square-foot, three-story courthouse features a cast-stone façade, includes a district courtroom, a bankruptcy courtroom, and three judges’ chambers, and is a welcome new addition to the city of Anniston.
