Welcoming AUM Students to Warhawk Hall

On August 10, 2013, Warhawk Hall opened its doors to AUM students who will make the new building their home away from home. Move-in day for the 2013-2014 school year took place last Saturday. BL Harbert, construction manager for Warhawk Hall, welcomed students with refreshments and t-shirts. Students were excited to have the opportunity to live in the recently completed Warhawk Hall.  Suites include one-, two-, or three-bedrooms with a common room and mini kitchen. Warhawk Hall is at full capacity with 293 residents. The Nest, a two-story student commons facility adjoining the residence hall, is complete with gaming rooms, theaters, a computer lab and multipurpose spaces for the residents.

“Every project brings its own unique set of challenges, and for AUM, the greatest challenge with Warhawk Hall was meeting the deadline for student move-in.  This required an aggressive project schedule as well as coordination of multiple Prime Contractors.  The weeks leading up to our deadline were tense as well as exciting.  I am confident that this project met its deadlines because of the professional staff of BL Harbert International.  For me, this meant I could relax and trust their (BL Harbert’s) abilities and competencies to just do their job,” said Wanda Meadows, AUM’s Vice Chancellor of Financial Affairs.

BL Harbert received the Certificate of Occupancy on August 8, 2013. Williams Blackstock Architects designed the $30 million, 144,000-square-foot residence hall.
