BL Harbert International was awarded a $66.9M contract from the Birmingham Jefferson Civic Center Authority to renovate the Legacy Arena at the Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Complex (BJCC) in Birmingham, Alabama.
First constructed in the 1970s, the Legacy Arena renovations bring the facility up to date with approximately 66,000 square feet of new additions and approximately 300,000 square feet of renovations to the existing arena and include enhancements to improve the fan experience, circulation to and within the space, and modernization aimed at the kind of amenities and interactions today’s fans and customers expect including new seats, updated aesthetics, and a rework of food and beverage vendors. The arena also boasts updated loading docks that help meet the demands for major tours and further strengthen the BJCC’s commercial operations. The main entrance into the arena was moved to 9th Avenue and 19th Street North.
“Our relationship with the City of Birmingham extends over 20 years and we look forward to delivering another mutually successful, signature project in our community,” said Dan Price, Vice President, Commercial Division Manager of the U.S. Group for BL Harbert International.
