BL Harbert International Awarded FBI Hazardous Devices School Expansion Project at Redstone Arsenal

BL Harbert International has been selected by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to construct a $27.5 million expansion to its Hazardous Devices School (HDS) program located at Redstone Arsenal, AL.

The project allows the FBI to increase existing training and provide new training programs that certify bomb technicians and enhances the nationwide render of safe responses.

Consisting of two main components, the project includes a 43,000-square-foot Deployment Building providing training vehicle storage, classroom and office space to support on-going training activities associated with the existing campus, and six (6) Training Village Structures for practical training exercises administrated by HDS and their partners.

BL Harbert International has completed over a dozen Redstone Arsenal projects at the Army Installation, Marshall Space Flight Center and the associated federal office park. “We look forward to constructing a first-class training facility for the Hazardous Devices School and are honored to be chosen for such an important job,” said Alex Edgeworth, Vice President and U.S. Federal Division Manager.

The HDS expansion project will begin construction immediately and is slated for completion by January 2018.
