Recently, BL Harbert International celebrated a construction milestone at a U.S. Department of State (DOS) office building in Charleston, South Carolina. The DOS, GSA, BL Harbert International and subcontractors joined together for a topping out celebration to recognize safety and all of the hard work completed to date on the new state-of-the-art facility.
“The recent topping out ceremony is truly a testament to our teams, particularly the field personnel,” stated Alex Edgeworth, Vice President of BL Harbert’s Federal Division. “We are proud to be working for GSA on this state-of-the-art facility at Charleston Regional Center and look forward to a successful completion in 2017.”
The new facility consists of a 125,000-square-foot, four-story office building at the U.S. Department of State, Charleston Regional Center. The Charleston Regional Center is located on the former U.S. Naval Base in North Charleston, SC and is part of a federal complex of other U.S. Government facilities.
The new office building amenities include a dining facility, kitchen, fitness center, auditorium and office space. The building is slated to achieve LEED Gold certification or higher.
Following this milestone, the construction team will concentrate on building dry-in and progressing with the interior fit-out, along with completing the phased site work surrounding the facility.
Serving as the general contractor, BL Harbert International is working in conjunction with construction manager, J.M. Waller Associates, Inc and EYP Architecture and Engineering.
