Gary W. Savage, President of BL Harbert International’s U.S. Group, was recently appointed by Governor Robert Bentley to serve a five year term on the Alabama Workforce Council. Savage was selected by the Governor as one of approximately 35 business and educational leaders from across the state to serve Alabama through his role on the council.
According to a press release from the Office of the Governor, the council is to “ advise and support members of the State School Board, the Chancellor of Alabama Community College System, College and University Presidents of Alabama’s four-year institutions and the Superintendent of the Department of Education on ways to more closely tailor the state’s workforce education programs with the workforce needs of new and existing Alabama business and industry.”
Savage, a native of Pell City, AL, earned his B.S. in Civil Engineering from UAB’s School of Engineering. He currently serves on the Alabama Association of General Contractors (AGC) state board of directors as the 2nd Vice President. He also serves on the Board of Advisors for the UAB School of Engineering.
