Our U.S. Industrial group sought numerous projects and continued success with repeat clients in 2018. The Shades Mountain Filter Improvement project for the Birmingham Water Works Board marks the third project on-site for this client. Located less than a mile from the U.S. Corporate Office, this project includes the construction of a new state-of-the-art filter building, along with yard-piping tie-ins and upgrades, pump station upgrades, and electrical and instrumentation additions. The job includes self-performing the lay down of approximately 10,000 CY of concrete, along with the installation of ductile iron, carbon steel, and stainless steel piping. It will also include the installation of a major filtration system and rotating equipment installations among other supporting trades.
Airbus was yet another high-profile repeat client for BL Harbert in 2018. We broke ground on the new Dual Bay Hangar Expansion, a project very similar to the Final Phase / Flight Line Hangar that BL Harbert built for Airbus in 2015. The new hangar is twice the size of the previous one. It will not only allow Airbus to expand its manufacturing of the A319, A320, and A321 models but will also serve as a testing support facility for the new A220, the product of a joint venture between Airbus and Bombardier.
