BL Harbert International served as the Construction Manager for the Homewood Community Center project, which included demolition and new construction in a populated, residential area.
The original facility was built in 1954 and later renovated in 1970. Needless to say, it was outdated, inefficient and short on space.
The new center is three levels with two full-sized gyms surrounded by an elevated running track. It also includes two large fitness rooms, multi-purpose meeting space, and both a 25-yard competition pool and an instructional/leisure pool.
Close to Home
Being selected to manage the construction of the new Homewood Community Center was exciting for multiple reasons: 1) The project site was only two miles from our home office, 2) several of our employees live in Homewood and utilized the existing facility, 3) it was important for us to be involved in a project that would impact the community for years to come.
A Word from the Client
Harbert’s experience, knowledge and integrity were evident at every stage of our project. All areas of our project have remained within our budget and required timelines, which was a major emphasis of our Board and community. -Berkley Squires, III, Director | Homewood Parks & Recreation
