The Concord Center

Birmingham, Alabama

The Concord Center is situated in the heart of Birmingham’s central business district, next to the historic Cathedral of St. Paul.

The twelve-story, 270,000-square-foot building has a reinforced concrete frame. The exterior features precast concrete panels, natural stone from Portugal and glass curtain wall to match the surrounding buildings. The building has one level of below-grade parking and three levels of above-grade parking. A fifteen-foot-thick foundation covers the entire site.

A particular challenge of this project was ensuring that its design complemented the surrounding downtown area. The glass pyramids at the top of the building reflect the nearby Cathedral’s spires, while blending with other architecture in the area.
