BL Harbert’s U.S. Group provides Preconstruction, Design-Build, Construction Management and Hard-Bid Estimating services to clients in the commercial, healthcare, public and private, federal and industrial marketplaces.
The most successful construction projects begin with thorough planning and close communication amongst key parties during the Preconstruction process. During this critical time, BL Harbert provides our clients with Project Budget Estimating, Value Analysis, Project Bid Package Development, Bid Analysis and Scheduling. Each component is tailored specifically to fit project needs.
BL Harbert offers general contracting services procured through the hard-bid or negotiated process. Our extensive amount of hard-bid work allows us to constantly take the pulse of the marketplace, access that helps us provide competitive pricing. Self-perform capabilities also allow us to maximize control over cost, schedule and quality.
Design-build is where BL Harbert shines. We have developed a strong, global network with architects and suppliers to collaborate on projects no matter their location. BL Harbert also maintains an in-house, multi-discipline Design Coordination Department, which directs all phases of the design process, both internally and with our design partners.
As construction manager, BL Harbert collaborates with owners, architects and consultants throughout the construction process, from groundbreaking to facility occupation, including preconstruction, constructability review, scheduling, procurement, design-build and construction coordination and supervision. This high level of involvement affords our clients enhanced control over costs, schedule, quality, start-up and warranties. BL Harbert is not contracted to self-perform work, but manages all subcontracts, guaranteeing cost and schedule. The rest of our offerings are "for fee," in which the client maintains all subcontracts.

BIM is a tool, not a solution—a tool that can take construction to new heights. However, BIM must be managed carefully and must be used in a way that brings value to a project. BIM works best as part of an overall business strategy and process. Done right, it improves the customer experience and directly addresses the massive waste issue plaguing our industry.
