This project consisted of the design-build of a 33,809-square-foot Chancery Office Annex Building of with offices for U.S. diplomatic staff and tenants.
The renovation of the existing five-story office annex has achieved the LEED Platinum Award by the USGBC. Also included is a renovation of a four-story office building that houses an ambassador and Marine Security Guard contingent.
Without jeopardizing the historic character of the 100-year old building’s façade, the Innovation Center design strikes a balance between modern functionality and sustainable design. Through the creative use of local, regional and U.S. materials, and the employment of a diverse group of construction professionals, the project team rapidly transformed the dilapidated facility into a showcase and multi-functional office facility for the U.S. Mission. The team’s efforts have resulted in the U.S. Green Building Council’s award of the coveted Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Platinum certification for the Innovation Center and Silver certification for the remaining portions of the project.
