Cybersecurity Qualification
As part of our shared commitment to national security and project excellence, BL Harbert International is writing to update you on the evolving of cybersecurity requirements for federal contracting.
While many of you are familiar with the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) for Department of War (“DOW”) (formerly Department of Defense -“DOD”) projects, these standards are rooted in NIST SP 800-171 and are now the baseline for our work across many federal agencies; Department of State (DoS), Department of Energy (DoE), Department of Justice (DoJ), GSA, FBI, and others.
Although specific certifications and frameworks may differ by agency, the underlying standards set by NIST remain the benchmark for all US Federal contracts regarding the safeguarding of sensitive information.
Our Commitment and How We can Prepare Together
BL Harbert International is proactive in our compliance efforts as demonstrated by our recently achieved CMMC Level 2 Certification via a third-party assessment (C3PAO). We view cybersecurity as a collective responsibility. Our goal is to ensure our entire supply chain is secure and prepared, allowing us to continue winning and executing high-stakes projects together across all federal agencies without disruption.
What This Means for Our Partnership
Cybersecurity compliance is required for companies seeking to work within the federal supply chain, which applies to BL Harbert International, our subcontracting partners, and vendors. While we are not requiring a formal qualification package today, we strongly encourage you to evaluate your current alignment with NIST SP 800-171 Rev 2, and for some newer projects, Rev 3.
Understanding your “SPRS Score” and your roadmap to certification is the critical first step in maintaining eligibility for future work.
We value your partnership and are dedicated to navigating these complex requirements together. By taking proactive steps now, we ensure our collective success and security for years to come.
