Birmingham, Ala. — BL Harbert International was recently awarded a $66.9M contract from the Birmingham Jefferson Civic Center Authority to renovate the Legacy Arena at the Birmingham-Jefferson Convention Complex (BJCC).
First constructed in the 1970s, the renovations will bring the facility up to date with approximately 66,000-sq-ft of new additions and approximately 300,000-sq-ft of renovations to the existing arena including new seats, updated aesthetics, and a rework of food and beverage vendors. Upon completion, the arena will also boast updated loading docks that will help meet the demands for major tours and further strengthen the BJCC’s commercial operations.
“Our relationship with the City of Birmingham extends over 20 years and we look forward to delivering another mutually successful, signature project in our community,” said Dan Price, Vice President |Commercial Division Manager of the U.S. Group for BL Harbert International.
The Legacy Arena is a part of the larger construction project at the BJCC that also includes the creation of Protective Stadium, which BL Harbert is overseeing as the Construction Manager. The Legacy Arena renovation is slated for completion in October 2021.
