BLHI recently teamed up with United Ability for a hands-on community outreach project. United Ability is an organization in Birmingham that provides services connecting people with disabilities to their communities and empowers individuals to live full and meaningful lives. Their campus offers services for both children and adults.
The fence surrounding their teaching garden had become rotten in certain areas, so local employees helped build and install a new one. The teaching garden is an outdoor sanctuary used to grow fruits, vegetables, and flowers, an important part of their program that is used year-round. Having outside time benefits everyone’s health, especially the students of United Ability.
The team at United Ability is excited to have a new, functioning fence that allows everyone to enjoy the garden fully. We appreciate what United Ability brings to our community, and it was an honor to be able to provide them with their new fence.
