BL Harbert to Break Ground on The Cooper, Charleston's New Waterfront Hotel
BL Harbert International will break ground on the construction of The Cooper, Charleston S.C.’s newest waterfront hotel on Thursday, February 20 at 9:30 a.m. To honor this important milestone, there will be a celebratory reception with Governor Henry McMaster in attendance.
Located next to Waterfront Park on the Charleston peninsula, the Cooper features a six-story, 225-key, 288,000-square-foot hotel with a ballroom, conference space, service kitchen, a restaurant, retail, elevated pool and sea-wall.
“This marks our seventh project in the city, and our team members who call Charleston home are excited to work on such a significant project,” said Johnny Garlington, U.S. Group President of BL Harbert International. “We are honored to be a part of our community’s growth and look forward to the economic impact the Cooper will have for decades to come.”
In addition to the hotel, the BL Harbert team will be working on the expansion into Charleston’s Waterfront Park that is expected to add about 400 more feet of waterfront walking area for visitors to the neighboring city park.
Construction of the Cooper is slated for completion in 2022.
