Frank Wampol Receives Lifetime Achievement Award
Frank Wampol, affectionately known in our industry as the “Godfather of Safety,” was recently honored with the prestigious William H. Weems Lifetime Achievement Award in Occupational Safety and Health. This award, which recognizes exceptional dedication to safety excellence, was presented this past weekend at the Alabama Governor’s Safety Conference.
The award is named after the late Dr. William H. Weems, a distinguished scholar and instructor who dedicated over 30 years to the University of Alabama’s Safe State Occupational Health and Safety consultation program. Dr. Weems also served as president of the National Association of Occupational Safety and Health Consultation Programs.
With over 43 years of experience in the field, Frank has become a sought-after advisor for safety professionals across the construction industry. His mantra—“all logos and egos are set aside when it comes to safety”—has earned him immense respect. Under his leadership, BL Harbert has received multiple safety honors and awards. Though Frank is humbled by the recognition, he remains focused on the ultimate goal: ensuring that every worker returns home safely to their loved ones at the end of the day. His commitment to this mission is what truly sets him apart in the field of safety and health.
Frank has been a leader, mentor and unwavering supporter of safety in our industry and beyond. ABC of AL actually awarded our highest safety honor to Frank in 2009 and was honored to nominate him for this Lifetime Achievement award. Frank has dedicated 43 tireless years to our industry, always prioritizing the safety of every worker.
