Michael Grier began his construction career with BL Harbert International as an Assistant Project Manager (APM) a short 12 years ago. A Civil Engineering graduate from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, Grier’s career took off running. During those twelve years, he has served the company in the roles of APM, Project Manager, Senior Project Manager and most recently as Project Executive.
Grier has worked on notable projects, such as the world’s largest post exchange for the U.S. in Fort Campbell, KY; a $45 million work and live facility for the Wounded Warriors; the rebuild of a church that was destroyed in the 2011 tornadoes; and new headquarters for NASA’s Space Launch Systems. Today, Michael is acting as a catalyst in fueling BL Harbert’s Nashville Regional Office from a regional healthcare satellite to a full-service hub, delivering projects in all market sectors.
Michael is an integral part in not only the success of BL Harbert, but also the culture. “Michael’s attitude and leadership skills are what sets him apart. He is always looking out for others and enabling everyone to do the best they can. These qualities also cross over to his home and family life, and that is evident in his daily practices,” stated Dan Price, Vice President of BL Harbert.
Grier is involved in the communities where we work and live. Although Michael has lived in middle Tennessee for a relatively short time, he is involved in the Franklin Tomorrow Board of Directors, Nashville Young Leaders Council, Next Generation Heritage Foundation Board of Directors and local youth sports.
This fall, Michael was named as the 2015 Outstanding Alumni of the Year by UAB National Alumni Society. A scholarship was also created in his honor.
It is no surprise based on his accomplishments that Michael has been selected for the 2015 class of Nashville Business Journal’s Top 40 Under 40. An awards banquet will take place on Wednesday, March 16 at the Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention Center. We will see you there!
