BL Harbert International has been selected to build The Cooper, Charleston, South Carolina’s newest waterfront hotel.
Located at 176 Concord St., adjacent to the Joe Riley Waterfront Park on the Charleston peninsula, the Cooper Hotel features a six-story, 225-key, 288,000-square-foot hotel with a ballroom, conference space, service kitchen, a restaurant, 12,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space on Concord Street, rooftop lounge, elevated pool and sea-wall, plus views of the harbor and downtown skyline. For decades the site was the location of the State Ports Authority headquarters.
“This marks our seventh project in the city, and our team members who call Charleston home are excited to work on such a significant project,” said Johnny Garlington, U.S. Group President of BL Harbert International. “We are honored to be a part of our community’s growth and look forward to the economic impact the Cooper will have for decades to come.”
In addition to the hotel, the BL Harbert team will be working on the expansion into Charleston’s Waterfront Park that is expected to add about 400 more feet of waterfront walking area for visitors to the neighboring city park. It will be a publicly accessible landscaped area located next to the Charleston Maritime Center.
