University of North Alabama Residence Hall

Florence, Alabama

This 193,000-square-foot project consists of two buildings totaling 786 beds. Each residential unit has its own toilet room and shower. The residence facility includes multiple ADA suites, laundry rooms, and lounge areas. This open concept facility overlooks the football and baseball fields.

The construction of the Residence Hall has brought a lot of energy and excitement to the UNA Campus.  The modern design intent was developed to compete with the ever-changing amenities now offered in Student Life Facilities.  The official start of construction only gave our team 10 months to complete before students moved in.  Not only were we able to deliver the project on time, but our team was honored to help welcome the students at move in.

A featured design of this complex is a FEMA-rated storm shelter.   This shelter is 4,000 square feet that includes the lobby and common areas of the building.   Constructed of 12” poured concrete structure and storm windows and doors that can withstand up to an F5 Tornado.  Also included in the design is dedicated water, ventilation, and a high-level first aid room.
